With Woman Midwifery Care
Rachele Meredith, Independent Midwife
About Me
I am an independent midwife registered to practise throughout Australia. I am the mother to five children, the first two born in a hospital birth centre and the last three born at home. My homebirths were life changing experiences and led me on the path to becoming an independent midwife. Both photos on this page were taken shortly after the birth of my youngest child, River, born in our loungeroom in January 2011.

I studied the Bachelor of Midwifery degree through the University of South Australia. During my three years of training I worked in both the private and public hospital systems and also worked with three independent midwives attending homebirths. I began my own practice at the end of 2009.
Since then I have undertaken additional study and have obtained notation and endorsement to provide Medicare rebates for some aspects of care and to prescribe some medications. I am currently working on an Honours degree examing how private midwives collaborate with other healthcare professionals and systems.
I have been actively involved in the homebirth movement since 2003 and have taken roles in organisations such as the Australian College of Midwives, Maternity Coalition. the Australian Private Midwives Association, and Homebirth Australia.
